đź’ˇWhat is STEAM?
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. It’s a learning process that integrates all these aspects to foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through hands-on, project-based learning.
Here is a video I created on Steam in Education
To understand this big concept better, I highly suggest watching a quick Youtube video:

♿What is Universal Design (UD)?
Universal Design (UD) is essentially about making a product or environment usable by everyone, regardless of their age, ability, or disability.
This is crucial for businesses to consider because it opens more doors and makes products accessible to the widest possible audience. I’m sure some YouTube videos can explain UD better than me, too:
🎨Historical Connections: The Bauhaus & STEAM Principles
UD and STEAM (formerly STEM) are often seen as newer techniques. However, the Bauhaus school incorporated similar approaches long ago.
Walter Gropius, the school’s founder, envisioned people from different backgrounds—technical jobs and artistic fields—all working together. This collaboration, bringing diverse perspectives, allowed for much more creative and innovative design.
🌍Example: The Power of Diverse Perspectives
STEAM in Education
Imagine a classroom where everyone only wears blue zip-up jackets. If you ask them to design a new jacket, chances are high it will also be a blue zip-up.
But in a place like the Bauhaus, or a school using STEAM, people wear all sorts of clothing: dresses, fancy jackets, graphic tees, etc. Give them the same assignment, and they’ll likely create something far more unique than a standard blue zip-up jacket.
Universal Design (UD)
UD is different. It’s about making products user-friendly for everyone.
It’s like taking that original blue zip-up and creating a version with different closure options, like a sweatshirt or a hoodie, for people who can’t use zippers easily. This design is an inclusive approach that benefits a broad range of users.
đź’ˇUniversal Design Principles:
- 1. Equitable Use
- 2. Flexibility in use
- 3. Simple and Intuitive
- 4. Perceptible Information
- 5. Tolerance for Error
- 6. Low Physical Effort
- 7. Size and Space for Approach and Use
- 8. Communication and Understanding
🚀STEAM TEAM NEBULA
Below are my assets and some hsoutouts to my STEAM Teammates. If you’d like to read into our STEAM Team Project more, please check out our Starship Nebula Team STEAM Webpage and Universal Design (UD)
What is a Nebula?
“Nebula,” a massive interstellar cloud of dust and gas, often acting as a stellar nursery.
Starship Motto:
I wrote “That’s one small click for man, one giant byte for mankind.” though I really like my teammate Gardenia’s “From Dust to Discovery” and “Ignite curiosity, Design the Future”.
What does the Nebulas Starship Icon mean?
Captain, we’ve cleared the brain fog! I believe it could mean: Pareidolia – Clouds represent random or ambiguous visual data, as clouds are constantly changing and can take on multitude of shapes. The brain represents the cognitive process; our brains are wired to look for patterns, especially faces, for survival and social reasons. When we see an image, multiple brain regions work together to interpret it based on memories and emotions. Combined, they illustrate the human tendency to find meaning, a visual metaphor for how the human mind actively interprets and finds patterns in the world, even in things like clouds, static, or other random stimuli.
